We Don't Have Gay People in Saudi Arabia Either, By The Way...

Things that annoy me:

1. People who stand around and hold long conversations in cramped hallways and doorways.
SHUT. THE HELL. UP. AND MOVE!
Or one day, I will poke you in the eye.

2. Nimr Bin 3Adwan. Did he, or did he not, shoot his wife? Make up your damn minds, historians.

3. Khalid Hossieni. What a cheese ball.
The Kite Runner is mediocre at best. All this guy does is give you a character that is all-good, and then suddenly he has him murdered, and there you are, crying, thinking you're reading a 'touching' story, when really he is only toying with your emotions and making you cry to fool you into thinking his book is good.
I don't understand what the deal is with this overrated crap people call literature.
I am completely against literary snobbery, and I literally will read anything, but if you're gonna over-hype something, atleast make it good.

4. People (*cough*al3awa6'i*cough*) who have a whole hour of television air-time, and instead of directing fellow Muslims' gazes towards the less fortunate, (which is, you know, the whole point of fasting..) they spend their hour whining about homosexuality.
There have always been, and there will always be homosexuals on this earth. Get over it.
I don't understand how these people can bear to live with themselves.
You have an hour on television where you can talk to people about whatever you want, and you get people who will trust, and even blindly follow, your advice. Can you imagine having that sort of power?
I mean, this is a huge responsibility. And apparently these people have no sense of its gravity.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't think Allah will punish us for not exterminating the faggotry. I think God will punish the people who get an hour of television to address the richest Muslims in the world and waste it on hating the gays, when there are people in Somalia who have nothing to break their fast.
There are people in Saudi Arabia who have nothing to break their fast! And instead of helping them, we waste our money on shopping for green articles of clothing to wear on the national day.
You know, to celebrate our love for our country.
Love for our country my a**. (It's Ramadan and I will not swear <3.)

Give to the poor. They're f***ing starving.

You know, that is such a true observation on Hosseini. I felt it was written for these goody-two-shoes Americans who would compete on who cries the most on Oprah. I found his style of writing as emotionally manipulative. He brings a perfectly normal character and just closes every single road in the face of that person. He truly devastates his characters, and that to me was sort of an emotional drag really.

There's a BIG difference between screwing your characters over, and to systematically sabotage the character's emotions.

As for gays in Saudi: Look at it this way, at the rate they're killing off, or sending gays into exile; of course there aren't any gays left in Saudi! Ditto for Iran.

If you just put religion aside for a minute, being gay, or lesbian, is just unnatural, and it goes against human nature. Human were made to procreate, without it the whole human race will eventually extinct.

So what do u suggest Uber, a Gay, and Lesbian parade in downtown Riyadh..!!!!

And you can't really call it "unnatural" when it is common among other animals as well as humans. In any case, isn't using computers "unnatural"?_____I don't want to do gay sex myself, but in my opinion what other people do in bed is absolutely none of my business or anyone else's business.

I could never live in your country.

How do you do it?
It's Ramadan and the best thing people can do over there is bash others? That's terrible. You make an excellent point...what about the Somalians and other impoverished peoples in need of help. This is the time for praying and alms giving to the poor. Not bashing others and promoting even more hate. We have enough of that in the world. We should be trying to promote peace.

Ubergirl,
have you heard of this? (Get your can of pepper spray before they sell out.)

:)))

By Sultan al-Kholaif

Dammam, Asharq Al-Awsat- Members of Khobar's Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice were the victims of an attack by two Saudi females, Asharq Al-Awsat can reveal.
According to the head of the commission in Khobar, two girls pepper sprayed members of the commission after they had tried to offer them advice.

Head of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in the Eastern province Dr. Mohamed bin Marshood al-Marshood, told Asharq Al Awsat that two of the Commission's employees were verbally insulted and attacked by two inappropriately-dressed females, in the old market in Prince Bandar street, an area usually crowded with shoppers during the month of Ramadan.

According to Dr. Al-Marshood, the two commission members approached the girls in order to "politely" advise and guide them regarding their inappropriate clothing.

Consequently, the two girls started verbally abusing the commission members, which then lead to one of the girls pepper-spraying them in the face as the other girl filmed the incident on her mobile phone, while continuing to hurl insults at them.

The Eastern Province's head of the commission also revealed that with the help of the police his two employees were able to control the situation.

The two females were then escorted to the police station where they apologized for the attack, were cautioned and then released.

There is no harm in getting to know gays. I'm not gay but I enjoy their company as they can give me a totally different view. I agree what don cox said: what other people do in bed is absolutely none of my business or anyone else's business.

Ubergirl, you ARE bashing and lashing. As you point out: it is Somalia, Darfur, Iraq, Haiti, Kibera, Dharavi, Cidade de Deus and the many places where there are millions of people living in abject poverty, hunger, misery or fear and terror - need our attention and focus most. Not homsexuals, pedophiles and other forms of sexual deviants.

It is Americans who actually are regularly bringing up homosexual issues more; in Ameraica, one's 'sexual orientation' matters and is easily picked up. In being elected or remaining a member of the congress or any other official post; in the military and even in work places. Whenever one wants to have a heated debate, all one has to do is bring up an issue related to homosexualiy. Ahmdedinejad is being most remembered on what he said about that, rather on what was most important of all: nucleur bombs.

Ubegirl, I have no doubt that you have posted on homsoexuality, a beahaviour that is deviant and utterly abnormal - not only to any religion, but biologically too - you have picked that up intentionally. You could have posted on some thing else more important and noble.

Ubergirl, I quote from the American Chronicle (http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=22887):

"I might also point out that, while I never shrink from labeling homosexual behavior immoral, such a belief is no prerequisite for remedial action. After all, we don’t for even a moment think microcephaly is immoral, but neither would we for even a moment hesitate to correct such a problem. By definition, homosexuality is an abnormality and there are many good reasons to cure it, among them being health, social and personal happiness imperatives.

Of course, like other groups that seek power, the homosexual lobby wants its constituency to grow, knowing there is strength in numbers. Like anyone looking for happiness not in virtue but in the acceptance of his vice, they want the approval of others. And like anyone seeking to justify the unjustifiable, they cannot bear the light of truth shone on that which looks best in darkness. After all, the truth can be scary. It’s just a pity it doesn’t scare them straight."

Homosexuality is immoral and abnormal. Only one who is a homosexual or has such tendencies, will say otherwise. That is the truth and it scares some people. Really scares them.

Correcting microcephaly? Wow, good luck! This is a brilliant example of an empty argument. Have you been thinking of a career in TV ministry? You've got talent! :)

Anon: you make an excellent point.

Eva: and your argument has no merit, for those who believe homosexuals are born that way are simply delusional.

a fucked mind, you sir are a fucking idiot. who the fuck are you to say homosexuals are not born that way? did you make some scientific break-through to be sure of your faulty fact?

A consciencious mind is one that digs into factual evidence before spouting cretinous ideas. You, sir, have chosen to believe that those who don't agree with you are delusional. That may feel comfortable for your state of mind and there is little chance that you'll trouble yourself finding the facts. Should you feel fit enough to overcome your ignorance, I suggest that you read about the latest scientific discoveries in the field of genetics. You'll find that homosexuality is embedded in certain individuals' DNA.

"...homosexuality is embedded in certain individuals' DNA." Next, we wll be told that paedohilia, beastiality and so on are 'embedded' in a person's DNA!

Homosexuals and those supporting it, will grab at any straw to justify their abnormality. They need treatment, not trying to justify their abnormality by mentionaing DNA or how other animal species have homosexual tendencies. Other animals do many other things that, should we imitate, we would find immoral and abnormal.

"The American Chronicle?"

Cute. A fake publication is cited as a reference. I am laughing AT you, "Anonymous" - you so brave faker who hasn't the testicular fortitude to post a real name.

There is no "American Chronicle" - do you have any - ANY clue - how large the United States really is? Every single city has at LEAST one newspaper - more often 3 or more. "The American Chronicle" - you are a joke, "Anonymous". Your bigotry and stupidity are amusing me greatly.

I laugh AT you.

As should any and all others who read your foolishness.

I really liked the Kite Runner. I thought it gave me a window into 1970's Afghanistan that I otherwise would not have had.

Wow. Some cultural and personal understanding in this discussion might be useful. Really, people are the same the world over. We all have success and failure, hopes and dreams, the same family and partnership issues regardless of what you deem as an appropriate or acceptable lifestyle. We all live, love and die. We are all afraid of the unknown and seek to demonize that which we do not understand. How eerily similar some of the comments made on this site are to the anti -Muslim sentiment I hear from among the staunchly conservative right -wing bigots that spew the same hatred and lack of understanding in my own country, everyday. Seeking to understand, tolerate and embrace people of all faiths and backgrounds is perhaps one the most fundamental ways in which we can all learn that we have a shared existence together, all of us, here on this little blue dot. And yes, the American Chronicle is an online magazine rather than a traditional newspaper right here in the good old USA. However, this magazine is not widely regarded as having the level of objective journalist integrity as some more traditional news outlets such as the New York Times or Chicago Tribune. And so from across the big blue Ocean, I’m wishing you all a joyous end to the Holy Month of Ramadan.
